Custom World Map
In 2011, I commissioned work from Compart Maps to make a world map customized into an art piece for a large home. The owner and cartographer transformed the image on the left, which is sold as is on Maps.com, which is a Americas-centric, Miller's Cylindrical Projection.
The map was divided up in 3 equal parts, by the cartographer, to be matted, framed and mounted separately. Maps.com did our printing on Wallzilla material, making each (3) sheet size: 55.4” wide x 73” high. (The Wallzilla adhesive backing did need to be stripped first before we could hot-mount it on Gator Board.)

The Weidman Gallery in Los Angeles, did an amazing job matting and framing the pieces. A wooden liner covered in black suede sits between the image and the beautiful Fotiou Two-Tone Silver Water Gilded Frame (#2042SI).
I cannot tell you how many hours and man power were put into this but it was a joy working with such a great team of people. I wish these iPhone photos and print-screen snips just won't do this world map justice. The ocean is actually a "Icelandic Green" with "Parchment" layer.
